  • Customer Security Engineer

    This Customer Security Engineer (CSE) position is located in San Diego, California.  This CSE will be responsible for providing Safe Access® (network access control) and VAM® (vulnerability management) support on a large enterprise. The primary focus of the position will be solution implementation, operations, and life cycle management. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for the successful integration of solution enhancements into the enterprise. The CSE is expected to become an expert in the installation, configuration, tuning and troubleshooting of all StillSecure products. The CSE will also work closely with our Customer Experience team to understand the customer experience and identifying ways to make our applications easier to use and more effective. In addition, as this individual will be at a customer site, interpersonal skills will be critical to success.   

    Responsibilities include:

    • Provide front-line network security solution support for customers.
      • Advise and assist customers on network and security environment installation, configuration, and tuning to achieve maximum value from StillSecure’s security solutions
    • Assist Development and QA Engineers throughout the software development lifecycle by providing expertise with respect to network and OS environment configuration.
      • Assist in the creation of technical requirements and designs
      • Provide input on network architecture plans for future product releases
      • Participate in technical design reviews
      • Maintain and configure the development and test environment
      • Design and execute QA test scenarios on an as-needed basis
    • Advise customers and prospects on best practices for deploying and configuring our security solution.
    • Identify opportunities for streamlining the delivery of support and drive the implementation of high value improvements in the process or means for delivering support.
    • Provide expertise and content for marketing and/or training materials (white papers, training materials, collateral, etc.).
    • Interface directly with client personnel.
    • Miscellaneous duties as assigned

    Experience / Skill Requirements:
    • Experience with security devices; NAC, Firewall, IDS/IPS, Proxy, Incident Managers
    • Highly proficient in TCP/IP networking and network security fundamentals
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Experience with direct customer interaction in a support or sales environment
    • Highly proficient verbal and written skills, with emphasis on teaching and patience
    • Highly proficient in Linux operating system configuration, utilities and programming
      • Linux OS, RPM and Linux utilities
      • Linux Kernel/Drivers/Hardware a plus
    • Familiarity with STIG guidelines and implications
    • Experience with full life-cycle projects
    • Experience with Microsoft solutions (XP, Vista, Server 2003, Server 2008 Active Directory, Windows Domains, etc)
    • Experience manipulating SQL databases
    • SQL database administration including Postgres and MySQL
    • Scripting language experience including Shell, Perl and Python
    • The ability to work in a fast paced, results oriented, and challenging environment where priorities and parameters often change with little warning
    • Strong customer empathy and orientation required.
    • Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills.
    • Travel will be limited, but occasionally required.
    • Experience in large enterprises is a plus.

    Special expertise in the following areas required;
    • Cisco Switching/Routing

    Security Clearance Requirements:
    Secret - (Single Scope Background Investigation preferred).

    Education/Work Experience Requirements:
    Bachelors or Masters Degree in technical or discipline or commensurate work experience

    Software Engineer - SAT (Security Alert Team)

    The Software Engineer (SAT) position will be based out of our Superior, Colorado office. This position is responsible for design, development and testing of the signatures for our Safe Access, Strata Guard, VAM and Web Application Firewall solutions. The Software Engineer (SAT) will work with our development team based in Colorado, and our remote teams to ensure that timely signature updates are available to our customers. The Software Engineer (SAT) is expected to become an expert in development and deployment of our signature updates. In addition, the person in this role will work closely with our Customer Support team to develop custom signatures required by our customers.  In this role, the Software Engineer (SAT) may visit customer sites, so interpersonal skills and written skills are critical for success.

    Responsibilities:

    Security Analyst I

    Security Analyst I is a member of the Security Operations Center (SOC) team and analyzes and responds to real time alerts from Intrusion Detection Prevention Sensors (IDPS), assists customers with firewall policy and rule changes, and modifies rules for Content Filtering,  Spam Eradication services, and Virtual Private Networks (VPN).  This challenging position requires a good knowledge of networking including basic sub netting and the use of Network Address Translation (NAT) and routing.  Working in the SOC requires good telephone and documentation skills.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Analyze and respond to real time IDPS based signature alerts
    • Open specific ports for required services on a firewall
    • Use NAT to hide local systems behind a firewall
    • Modify URL Content Filtering rules
    • Professionally answer and respond to telephone requests
    • Respond in a timely manner to service request tickets
    • Demonstrate best network security practices
    The ideal candidate has prior experience working in a network operations center or security operations center.  They have hands on experience working with firewalls and other security appliances entering and revising rules, policies, and configurations.  In addition, the ideal candidate thrives on demonstrating their creative problem-solving, analytical, and deductive reasoning skills.  The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills including experience documenting activities in a trouble ticketing system.  And the ideal candidate has a passion for learning and exploring the latest and best practices in network security.
