StillSecure Reaffirms Support and Leadership in the Snort Community

(Louisville, Colo. – March 11, 2005) – StillSecure, provider of an integrated suite of enterprise network security solutions, today announced its corporate sponsorship for BleedingSnort.com, a leading community for Snort research and signature development. As part of its sponsorship, StillSecure’s Security Alert Team (SAT) will work with Bleeding Snort™ administrators to develop the latest attack signatures that can be utilized by the entire open source community.

Established in 2004, Bleeding Snort has quickly become one of the leading communities for Snort signature research and development. With a diverse set of contributors, Bleeding Snort has consistently been the first to release signatures for many serious threats. StillSecure Border Guard™, SC Magazine’s best intrusion detection / prevention solution (IDS/IPS) of 2004, leverages Snort and its signature format. StillSecure utilizes a number of sources to develop and distribute signatures to protect against the latest threats. One leading source is Bleeding Snort.

“Bleeding Snort is committed to building an open community focused on providing timely and high quality signatures for Snort,” said Matt Jonkman, Bleeding Snort administrator. “StillSecure is well-known as an expert in the network security market and their contribution will help Bleeding Snort continue to be a key resource for all Snort users.”

“StillSecure is proud to give back to the community. Our company has benefited from the efforts of countless individuals who support open source applications,” said Mitchell Ashley, CTO and VP of Customer Experience of StillSecure. “Timely and freely available Snort signatures are in the best interests of the entire Internet community. We’re thankful for the efforts of groups like Bleeding Snort.”

“Our Security Alert Team™ works 24x7x365 to rapidly deliver attack protection to our customers,” said Brad Doctor, Director of Research at StillSecure. “Because response time is crucial, we have numerous processes for developing and reviewing attack signatures. Bleeding Snort does an excellent job of providing up-to-the-minute response and we look forward to working closer with their team to foster a strong community for open source signature development.”
