Through scheduled scanning, VAM systematically scans devices for all relevant vulnerabilities at a frequency of your choosing—daily, perhaps, for critical devices and monthly for less critical machines. It's totally up to you.

There will be times, however, when you'll need to run scans on demand—maybe to evaluate a single device or after a new headline-grabbing vulnerability has been announced, where you'll quickly find and remediate any instances of it.

That's where VAM's on-demand scanning capability comes in handy. Simply give the scan a name (1) and enter the IP or the IP range (2). You can apply a single scan rule or all relevant scan rules—what ever suits your purpose. In this example, we've selected a single rule (3).

If you like you can share the scan (4) with other groups so that they may run it too, say in other locations or business units.

That's it. Click Scan Now (5), and VAM immediately starts assessing the IP range you specified.
