About VAM® Lite

VAM® Lite is freeware version of VAM, our enterprise-scale vulnerability management system. VAM Lite includes all VAM functionality with the following restrictions:

  • Vulnerability scanning is limited to 100 IPs
  • The Security POV™ reporting module is disabled (VAM 'classic' reporting is available)
  • VAM Lite cannot be run in a distributed scanning environment

Who is VAM Lite for?

VAM Lite users should have basic TCP/IP networking skills. They should have a solid understanding of network architecture and have an inclination for network security issues and processes. Typical users include:

  • IT/MIS administrators
  • Data security administrators
  • Network administrators
  • Security enthusiasts

System Requirements

VAM Lite is delivered as a software download and installs on a dedicated server or within a VMware environment. See System Requirements for details.

For support, your best bet is to use our Freeware Support and Feedback form. Our engineering team monitors submissions, but we cannot guarantee a response time.

Keep in mind that VAM Lite is freeware, and as such there is no formal product support.

Full product support is available to customers who've purchased a commercial VAM license and to those engaged in formal 15-day product trials.

Documentation

Before downloading, we highly recommend you browse the illustrated, 30-page VAM Lite Implementation Guide. You'll get a pretty good feel for what's involved with installing and configuring the software.

The VAM download includes the full suite of online Help and PDF user documentation, including the complete VAM Users Guide, Install Guide, Distributed Scanner Install Guide, Quick-start Guide, and Release Notes.

Upgrade to supported trial or commercial license

You do not need to re-install to move to a supported trial or a commercial license! All it takes to unlock additional VAM functionality is a new a license key.
